Hi — we're Hypefy, a Croatian-based start-up.
We're an AI-driven influencer marketing platform, live in 35+ countries and growing fast. We're actively fundraising, running due diligence processes with investors, and scaling across multiple markets — all at the same time.
We work with external lawyers for the high-stakes stuff, but the day-to-day legal and compliance load has grown to the point where we need someone in-house. Someone who can handle the operational legal work themselves, coordinate with external counsel when it matters, and build the compliance foundations we haven't had time to set up properly.
This isn't a role for someone who wants to slow things down. It's for someone who understands that legal and compliance done well makes a company faster, not slower.
Contracts & Commercial Legal
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts — client agreements, vendor contracts, NDAs, partnership deals
• Build and maintain a library of standard templates that the team can actually use
• Be the first point of contact for legal questions from across the company
• Coordinate with external lawyers on complex or high-value matters — prepare briefings, manage timelines, control costs
Fundraising & Due Diligence
• Support investor due diligence processes end-to-end — coordinate document requests, track outstanding items, liaise with external counsel
• Maintain a clean, organized data room that's always investor-ready
• Review and negotiate term sheets, shareholder agreements, and financing documents alongside external lawyers
• Help build and maintain the corporate legal structure as we grow
Employment & People Legal
• Draft and maintain employment contracts, contractor agreements, and offer letters
• Advise on employment law matters — working arrangements, terminations, equity, benefits
• Support HR on compliance with Croatian labor law and cross-border employment questions
• Keep employee documentation organized and legally sound
GDPR & Data Privacy
• Take ownership of GDPR compliance — this is a known gap and a real priority
• Conduct a gap assessment and build a roadmap to get us where we need to be
• Implement and maintain privacy policies, data processing agreements, and internal procedures
• Be the point of contact for data privacy questions internally and externally
• Monitor regulatory changes in key markets and flag what's relevant
General Compliance
• Identify regulatory obligations across our operating markets and make sure we're meeting them
• Manage corporate housekeeping — filings, registrations, statutory obligations
• Support the finance team on compliance-adjacent topics (AML basics, financial regulatory questions)
• Help build a compliance culture — practical guidance, not just policies that sit in a drawer
• Lean, fast-moving team — we make decisions quickly and expect the same from legal
• External lawyers are for serious, complex matters — you handle the day-to-day and manage them efficiently
• Direct access to founders and leadership on anything significant
• High trust, high ownership — you'll set the legal and compliance agenda, not just execute someone else's
Required
• 3+ years of legal experience — in-house, law firm, or a mix of both
• Solid foundation in contract law and commercial legal work
• Working knowledge of Croatian employment law
• Understanding of GDPR and data privacy obligations
• Experience supporting or running due diligence processes
• Comfortable operating with autonomy and managing external counsel
• Practical, business-oriented mindset — you find solutions, not just problems
• Fluent in Croatian and English (legal English included)
Nice to Have
• Experience at a startup or scale-up
• Exposure to fundraising processes or venture transactions
• Knowledge of platform/marketplace regulatory issues
• Familiarity with multi-jurisdiction operations (EU, broader EMEA)
• Experience with influencer marketing, digital advertising, or creator economy legal specifics
• You'll build the legal and compliance function from the ground up — real ownership, not just execution
• Direct exposure to fundraising, international expansion, and fast-moving commercial deals
